About me

I'm a software engineer living in France.

I grew up on Long Island and went to Rice University ('09) where I got a BS in Computer Science.  My focus was network security.  I interned at National Instruments (NI) in Austin, TX for two summers, then worked there for five years.

At NI, I worked on the LabVIEW team, which gave me a pretty strong grounding in LabVIEW internals.  Some of my work was publicly released, some of it has started to trickle out, and some of it will be coming out in the next few years.

National Instruments is known for bridging the gap between hardware and software, though I worked entirely on the software side of things.

While working for National Instruments, I spent two long-term periods in France.  The first time was when my wife was in law school and she did her third year at Sciences Po in Paris.  The second time was when she worked at UNESCO.

After we returned to the United States for the second time (in 2014), I left NI and started working for Alert Logic, a Houston-based network security company.  I've been with Alert Logic since August 2014, working on their Cloud Insight product, which has given me a lot of exposure to new technologies, especially Amazon Web Services.

And now we've returned to France for a third time.  Again, this is following my wife, as she works for a law firm here.  Paris is a great place, so I'm certainly not complaining about having to follow her job prospects around the world.  Though I'm certainly getting tired of moving.
